Hear, O God, my prayer, when I make supplication to thee : deliver my soul from the fear of the enemy.

O God, Who didst exalt thy blessed Evangelist Mark, by giving him grace to preach thine Evangel, grant unto us, we beseech thee, ever to follow more and more what he teacheth, and ever to be shielded from all evil by his prayers.

Lesson from the book of Ezekiel

And as for the likeness of their faces: there was the face of a man, and the face of a lion on the right side of all the four: and the face of an ox, on the left side of all the four: and the face of an eagle over all the four. And their faces, and their wings were stretched upward: two wings of every one were joined, and two covered their bodies: And every one of them went straight forward: whither the impulse of the spirit was to go, thither they went: and they turned not when they went. And as for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like that of burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps. This was the vision running to and fro in the midst of the living creatures, a bright fire, and lightning going forth from the fire. At that time, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and sent them forth two by two before Him into every town and place where He Himself was about to come. And He said to them, The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest. Go. Behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry neither purse, nor wallet, nor sandals, and greet no one on the way. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house!’ And if a son of peace be there, your peace will rest upon him; but if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they have; for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. And whatever town you enter, and they receive you, eat what is set before you, and cure the sick who are there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’

We offer thee our gifts, O Lord, on the Festival of blessed Mark, thy Evangelist, and we pray, that we may ever profit by his teaching, and defended by his prayers.

The just shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall hope in him: and all the upright in heart shall be praised, alleluia, alleluia.

May thy holy mysteries, we ask, O Lord, be to us a continual safeguard, and through the prayers of blessed Mark, thy Evangelist, ever defend us from all adversities.

Grant, we beseech thee, O Almighty God, that we who in our tribulation are yet of good cheer because of thy loving-kindness, may find thee mighty to save from all dangers.

Mercifully grant our prayers, we beseech thee, O Lord, that while we receive thy gifts in tribulation, we may be comforted, and so increase in thy love.

We beseech thee, O Lord that these offerings may both loosen the bonds of our wickedness, and obtain for us the gifts of mercy.
