Instructions

  1. Prepare the strudel dough and leave to rest.
  2. Roll the raisins in the rum and leave to soak up a little.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  4. Meanwhile, peel the apples, cut into eighths and slice into pieces approx. 3-5 mm thick. Optionally, sprinkle with a little lemon juice to prevent the apples from oxidising.
  5. Brown the breadcrumbs in approx. 30 g butter in a pan on a low heat.
  6. Mix the apples with the remaining ingredients.
  7. Roll out the strudel dough on a lightly floured tea towel. Spread a little melted butter on top and add the filling. Drizzle over almost all of the remaining butter and roll up the strudel using the kitchen towel.
  8. Position the strudel on a baking tray with the seam facing downwards and brush with the remaining butter.
  9. Bake at 180°C top/bottom heat for approx. 40 minutes.
  10. Leave to cool for approx. 10 minutes before enjoying.
  11. Optionally serve with vanilla sauce or simply sprinkled with icing sugar.
