- Prepare the strudel dough and leave to rest.
- Roll the raisins in the rum and leave to soak up a little.
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Meanwhile, peel the apples, cut into eighths and slice into pieces approx. 3-5 mm thick. Optionally, sprinkle with a little lemon juice to prevent the apples from oxidising.
- Brown the breadcrumbs in approx. 30 g butter in a pan on a low heat.
- Mix the apples with the remaining ingredients.
- Roll out the strudel dough on a lightly floured tea towel. Spread a little melted butter on top and add the filling. Drizzle over almost all of the remaining butter and roll up the strudel using the kitchen towel.
- Position the strudel on a baking tray with the seam facing downwards and brush with the remaining butter.
- Bake at 180°C top/bottom heat for approx. 40 minutes.
- Leave to cool for approx. 10 minutes before enjoying.
- Optionally serve with vanilla sauce or simply sprinkled with icing sugar.
