Apple compote & apple sauce

Easy to make and delicious as a side dish with lots of things.

Portions:

4 jars, 400 ml each

Instructions

  1. Peel the apples and cut each one into 8 wedges.
  2. Place the apple slices in a saucepan with a little water (~200 ml), 4–6 cloves, a piece of lemon peel and a cinnamon stick, and simmer over a medium to high heat.
  3. Once the apples have cooked through (about 20 minutes), remove the cloves, lemon zest and cinnamon stick, and serve whilst still warm.

Apple sauce is made in exactly the same way, but is then puréed. Remember to remove the spices before puréing.
