- Weigh the rice and it is best to wash it directly in the pot. Just add a little water, agitate the rice and then rinse with plenty of water and strain. You don't want the rice to swell here, so minimise the time with lots of water in the pot. Repeat 3-4 times until significantly less starch is washed out.
- Strain off as much water as possible, now add the same amount of water as rice to the pot.
- Bring to the boil on the hob on a high heat. Put the lid on and simmer on a low heat (1-2) for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, remove the rice from the heat do not remove the lid and leave to steam for a further 10 minutes.
- Enjoy as a side dish with many things. E.g. Tikka Paneer.
