Quince and apple compote

A nice compote that gains a special flavour from its star anise.

Portions:

Instructions

  1. Peel the quinces and core them generously. Cut into small ~1-2 cm pieces and place in a pan. Cover with water and a splash of lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Optionally, peel the apples and add them in large pieces.
  3. Bring to the boil with the star anise, cinnamon and lemon zest and simmer for approx. 30 minutes.
  4. Pour into boiled jars or eat warm. Good as a dessert over the winter.
