- Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- Add the milk and stir it in.
- Cut the butter into small cubes and rub it into the flour. Work into a smooth dough.
- Flatten the dough slightly, wrap it in cling film and leave it in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up a little.
- Preheat the oven to 165 degrees (top and bottom heat).
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of 3 mm. Cut out shapes using your chosen cutter and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. If desired, prick the biscuits with a fork or similar to prevent them from rising too much.
- Bake in the oven on the middle shelf for 20 minutes or until the desired colour is achieved.
- Leave to cool on a wire rack.
- Serve with tea or coffee, or use in baking, e.g. for cake bases.
