St. Ignatius, Bishop and Martyr

Class III Red Epiphanytide

Mass propers

Introit (Gal 6:14)
God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.
Meménto, Dómine, David: et omnis mansuetúdinis ejus.
O Lord, remember David and all his meekness.
God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.
Epistle (Rom 8:35-39)
Léctio Epistolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Romános
Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans
Fratres: Quis nos separábit a caritáte Christi: tribulátio, an angustia, an fames, an núditas, an perículum, an persecútio, an gládius? sicut scriptum est: Quia propter te mortificámur tota die: æstimáti sumus sicut oves occisiónis.
Brethren, who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation? or distress? or famine? Or nakedness? or danger? Or persecution? or the sword? As it is written: For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long: we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. But in all these things we overcome because of Him that hath loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor might, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Gradual (Ecclus 44:16)
Ecce sacérdos magnus, qui in diébus suis plácuit Deo.
Behold a great priest, who in his days pleased God.
There was not any found the like to him, who kept the law of the Most High. Alleluia, alleluia.
Christo confíxus sum Cruci: vivo ego, jam non ego, vivit vero in me Christus. Allelúja.
With Christ I am nailed to the cross: I live, now not I, but Christ liveth in me. Alleluia.
Tract (Ecclus 44:16)
Ecce sacérdos magnus, qui in diébus suis plácuit Deo.
Behold a great priest, who in his days pleased God.
There was not any found the like to him, who kept the law of the Most High.
Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withheld from him the will of his lips.
Quoniam prævenísti eum in benedictiónibus dulcedinis.
For Thou hast prevented him with blessings of sweetness.
Posuísti in cápite ejus coronam de lápide pretióso.
Thou hast set on his head a crown of precious stones.
Gospel (Jn 12:24-26)
Sequéntia ++ sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem
Continuation + of the Holy Gospel according to John
At that time, Jesus said to His Disciples, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. He who loves his life, loses it; and he who hates his life in this world, keeps it unto life everlasting. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am there also shall My servant be. If anyone serves Me, My Father will honor him.”
Offertory
Thou hast crowned Him with glory and honor: and hast set Him over the works of Thy hands, O Lord.

GradualeP (Gal 2:19-20) Douay-Rheims
Allelúja, allelúja.
Christo confíxus sum Cruci: vivo ego, jam non ego, vivit vero in me Christus. Allelúja.
For I, through the law, am dead to the law, that I may live to God; with Christ I am nailed to the cross. And I live, now not I: but Christ liveth in me. And that I live now in the flesh: I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and delivered himself for me.
Posuísti, Domine, super caput ejus corónam de lápide pretióso. Allelúja.
For thou hast prevented him with blessings of sweetness: thou hast set on his head a crown of precious stones.
Ad maiorem Dei gloriam
